Kimberly D. Dodson, Ph.D.



Kimberly D. Dodson, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor and Criminology Program Director in the Department of Social and Cultural Sciences at the University of Houston-Clear Lake. Dr. Dodson has over 20 years of law enforcement experience and she has extensive investigative training in child abuse and sexual exploitation of children. In addition, she has served as an expert witness in child abuse and neglect cases. Dr. Dodson's research interests include correctional program evaluation and the treatment and care of offenders with special needs. She has served on program advisory boards for several correctional facilities and has helped them develop and implement evidence-based programs. Dr. Dodson has published research in several high profile journals including The Prison Journal, Journal of Offender Rehabilitation, Journal of Criminal Justice Education, Journal of Theoretical, and Philosophical Criminology, and The Journal of Special Populations. She is the editor of the Handbook on Offenders with Special Needs with Routledge Publishing. She currently serves as the Chair of the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences Minorities and Women Section.
