Janet R. Yeats, MA, LMFT



Janet R. Yeats, MA, LMFT (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist) is a trauma, grief and loss specialist located in Minneapolis, MN. She holds two master’s degrees: marriage and family therapy from Bethel University, and family social science from the University of Minnesota. Janet is trained in Critical Incident Stress Management and is a Train-the-Trainer of Psychological First Aid. She is an experienced trauma and disaster responder addressing individual and corporate traumatic events, and natural and human-created disasters as a member of the MN Medical Reserve Corps and MN Medical Mobile Team.

Janet has published peer-reviewed articles on ambiguous loss, grief, and hoarding disorder, and is currently writing a memoir on grief. She has written a series of blog posts on hoarding disorder that can be accessed at www.scenecleanmn.com/blog.

Janet has years of therapeutic experience working with a variety of populations and diagnoses including grief, PTSD, anxiety and depression, dementia (Clinical Director of the Wayne Caron Family Caregiving Center and clinical team of member at the N. Bud Grossman Memory Clinic) and hoarding disorder (Co-founder of The Hoarding Project). Currently, she is an intern supervisor and case consultation facilitator at Avenues for Youth. Janet supervises associate therapists, consults with individuals and groups, and also provides trainings and workshops on a variety of topics within the trauma field.
